It was the twenty-third of June. I was sure that I had plenty of time. I could carefully head in, grab some food, and get out of there. I could hear the shower running upstairs; the giantess would be in there for a while; thirty minutes at least.

My name is Connor. I have messy brown hair, blue eyes, and a slightly-pale complexion. My "clothes" are just rags fastened into the shape of clothing, and it was quite filthy. I'm also covered in scratches and cuts from fighting back against small animals like squirrels and mice. I've carved a living out of hiding under the feet of humans for nearly eighteen years.

My kind calls them "giants", while they call us "tinies". We tinies stay alive by borrowing food and materials from the giants. I never try to take too much; just enough to get by. It's not like I could function in giant society. I run into other tinies every now and then, but I've preferred being on my own. A single tiny is harder to spot than a group, from what I've seen.

I "visited" this giant home on June 20th. I spent two days sneaking around the house to do some reconnaissance; I needed to know what I was up against. A few giants and giantesses frequented the home, but from what I could tell, only a single giantess lived here. Once I was sure what her daily pattern was, I made my plan.

I snuck out of a mouse-hole in the hallway, hidden behind a small cabinet with a vase. I dashed along the hallway floor, a belt of tools affixed to my belt. A rope made from thick string was wrapped around my waist. As I ran into the kitchen, I could hear the giantess singing in the shower upstairs. She must have left the door open. Part of me wanted to stop and listen, but I had a job to do... no matter how beautiful it sounded.

I took my rope and stood before the oven. The rope had a makeshift grappling hook on the end, made of metal scraps. I tossed the grappling hook around in the air and tossed it at the handle at the top of the oven. It hooked on tightly to the handle. Grinning, I began my slow and careful climb up the stove.

My objective wasn't the stove itself, but what was on the countertop to the left of it. The giantess had placed a bowl of sour apples upon that counter just yesterday. Man, I loved apples, especially the green ones. The plan seemed simple enough; get to the apple, carve up a few slices from it, and get back to the mouse-hole. If the giantess noticed me, I'd just leave the home and be on my way with a full meal. Easy, right?

Once I was atop the stove, I slowly pulled all the rope back up. I then made my way across to the countertop. The apples sat in a wide, brown bowl. There were other things lined against the wall, like bottles of medicine and a recipe-box. But I ignored them and climbed over the lid of the bowl.

My oh my, those apples looked succulent. I took the knife off my belt and tried to decide which one to carve from. The knife was a bit of sharpened metal affixed to a wooden "hilt". Choosing an apple in the back, I made my way around and jabbed the knife in. I inhaled with satisfaction as I carved a piece of the green flesh...

When a sudden silence sent a chill up my spine. I couldn't hear any shower water, nor any singing. I gasped in realization; the giantess ended her shower early!

I grasped at my knife to pull it free. I cursed under my breath; in my eagerness to take some apple, I stuck my knife in too deep. I had to grasp the hilt with both hands to pull it loose. As I was pulling, a new sound came from the hallway; the giantess was descending the staircase. With another gasp, I pulled the knife as hard as I could. It came free, at the cost of sending me falling back several inches and crashing into a medicine bottle.

"Huh?" The giantess said from the hallway.

In a panic, I snuck around the medicine bottles to hide behind the bulky recipe box. I crouched down and waited in silence as the giantess made her way into the kitchen. Did she see me? I crept over to the other side of the recipe-box, where it rested beside the back of the stove. I peeked through the crack to get a look at the giantess.

She was enormous compared to me; I was no bigger than her thumb. She was dressed in a fluffy blue bathrobe, and her hair was wrapped in a matching towel. She strode through the room, her feet muffled by what I guessed were slippers. I couldn't get a good look at her face.

I crouched down lower as the giantess moved about the room. She grunted in annoyance at something, but didn't give a clue as to what. I hoped she didn't see the cut I made in that apple. I heard her pressing the button on a coffee-maker she had on the opposite counter. She took something out of a cabinet, and then her fridge. I assumed she was getting coffee grounds and milk.

As I waited in silence, I formulated a plan on how to get away before she noticed me. I wouldn't have to move far; I would just stay right here and wait for her to leave the house. It would take an hour at the most, and then I could be on my way. I took a breath and sat down. It wouldn't be so bad, right?

That's when I heard the bowl of apples shift around.

"Hey." The giantess said, irritated. "What happened to this apple?"

Please don't find me, I thought. That's when I heard the giantess picking something else up, and my heart leaped into my throat.

"What's THIS? Is this... a little knife?"

My knife! I was in such a panic that I dropped it when I pulled it from the apple! My entire body shivered. And just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I heard the giantess shift the bottles around. I tried to back up more, only for my back to hit the stove. It wasn't long before the giantess moved part of the recipe-box to the side, revealing me.

The giantess gasped in surprise, her hand reeling back from the recipe-box. This was my only chance to get away. I squeezed between the box and stove and ran across the space between the burners. Thank goodness none of them were on. I was at the edge of the stove when the giantess started chasing after me. I leaped from the stove, intending to land on the lid of the adjacent garbage can. Unfortunately, the distance was a little further than I anticipated; I fell forwards and landed hard on my shins.

The giantess made a grab for me. But I grunted through the pain and kept running forwards. I leaped again, this time onto an exposed bit of shelves between the garbage can and a cabinet. The distance was shorter this time, but as I turned around to jump again, I saw that the distance from the shelf to the floor was even greater than the first jump. My legs couldn't handle a leap like that.

The giantess stood before the shelves and bent down to try grabbing me again. I turned around ran behind the line of empty jars on the shelf. I was up against the wall, and there wasn't anywhere else to go. The giantess chuckled behind me; I was trapped.

"Well, you've certainly given me an unexpected surprise." She said. I turned around to see the giantess grinning at me.

The giantess was equal parts lovely and terrifying. She had such big blue eyes, which studied my every feature. She had such perfect lips, which she licked hungrily. I just stood there, unable to think of anything to do.

"Come on out, little guy." The giantess said, pushing the jars aside to expose me more. My legs barely budged. The giantess sneered. "If you don't come out, I could just go in after you."

I sighed in defeat. With no way out but forwards, I took cautious steps towards the giantess. Once I was in reach, she plucked me up from the shelves in her hand, squeezing me tight. She backed up and stood at her full height to get a better look at me. The giantess smirked as she held my knife before me between the thumb and forefinger on her other hand.

"Is this yours?"

"Y... Yes, ma'am." I said.

"Ah, you're an honest little man. And polite, too." The giantess nodded. Just when I thought I could relax, she glared. "It won't get you out of trouble, I'm afraid."

"I..." I muttered.

"It's wrong to sneak into people's homes and steal their food."

"It was just part of an apple!" I pleaded.

"That doesn't make it any less wrong, little tiny." The giantess put my knife on the counter. "I'm going to have to punish you for stealing..."

I gulped as the giantess stood in thought. I was well aware of the favorite method that giants had to "punish" the tinies they found.

"I'm sorry." I said. "I'm really, really sorry for sneaking into your home, ma'am. Can't I please make it up to you?"

I wasn't too proud to beg. Giants were unpredictable; it just might have worked. And as the giantess looked down at me, I thought for sure it would. But then she grinned.

"Oh, I know the perfect way for you to make it up to me." The giantess said, licking her lips again.

My heart sank. I bent my head low. "Oh... I see..."

The giantess lifted me over her head and opened her mouth wide. I could see her wiggling tongue in the wet, sticky chamber. I sighed and shut my eyes. I had a feeling that a giant would one day catch and eat me. There wasn't any point in fighting back; I'd rather just face the music. I waited to be covered in slobber, or for her teeth to bite into me...

But I seemed to just hang in the air. I slowly opened my eyes in confusion. I was surrounded on all sides by the giantess's mouth, but her jaws were still parted wide. She held me tightly, but she wouldn't let go. I saw her tongue rise up to my face, but it only gave me a soft pat on the cheek.

What's going on?, I wondered Is she trying to toy with me? Do I not taste good?

After nearly a minute of just being held there, the giantess pulled me out of her mouth. As she tilted her head forwards again, her hand shifted to hold me in her palm. I looked up at her in confusion, though she didn't look back at me.

"Aren't you going to eat me?" I asked. I immediately chastised myself for asking that.

"I..." The giantess muttered. She finally looked into my eyes, an uneasy expression on her face. "I've just had a change of mind. I'm not going to eat you... YET."

"Huh?"

The giantess carefully plopped me down on the countertop. In watched her as she reached for an apple from the bowl; the same apple I carved before. I stood there, blinking as she took a giant-sized knife and cut the apple into slices. She took a slice, much bigger than I was capable of carving, and gave it to me.

"Here..." She said.

I could scarcely believe what was happening. I apprehensively took the large apple slice. "Uh... thank you?"

"I'm... uh, letting you off with a warning." The giantess said, sliding my knife to me with a finger. As I picked up my knife, the giantess scooped me up with her free hand. I froze. I thought for sure she would laugh and say she was toying with me. But instead, she carried me across the kitchen floor and gently sat me down at the doorway.

"There you go." The giantess said. "You can run along home now, little guy."

"Uh..." I turned around and looked up at her as she stood above me. "Thank... you?"

"Don't thank me just yet." She said, wagging a finger. "If I catch you in my home again, I'll... I'll gobble you up! Yeah..." The giantess rubbed her stomach for emphasis.

I looked up at her, my head tilted. Something wasn't right. The giantess backed up.

"Have a nice day." She said.

"Uh... goodbye." I replied.

I held onto my apple slice and walked into the hallway. Again I thought the giantess was tricking me. But she just went about her business in the kitchen, like nothing ever happened.

As I made the long walk down the hallway, I wasn't sure of what to make of that event. I thought I was giant-food, but she suddenly let me go. She even gave me a snack and sent me on my merry way. Never in my years of living in giants' homes did I ever hear of that happening. Growing up, giants were built up to be these terrifying predators who wouldn't hesitate to eat a dozen tinies for breakfast. But she just LET ME GO.

I finally arrived at the cabinet that hid the mouse-hole. I squeezed in-between and went to go inside. I heard movement somewhere behind me. I turned my head back down the hallway. The giantess had stuck her head out of the kitchen, her eyes tracking me. I initially thought this was all an overly-elaborate plot to find my hidden home. But giantess looked... sad. So sad. It was almost as if she wanted me to come back.

Giants were truly unpredictable, and this one was no different. I may not have been safe to stay in that mouse-hole for long. But my legs were sore and my stomach was rumbling. I just wanted to eat my apple in piece. So I entered the mouse-hole without looking back.

As I ate my slice of apple, I could almost swear I heard crying.

A little less than five years ago, I discovered an incredible giantess series called "To Stall a Giantess", written by Newmanaccount.

That story is one of my favorites, and has long been a source of inspiration to me. I love the concept of a tiny person encountering a giantess, followed by an unlikely romance. I've wanted to do my own spin on the concept for a while now. And with the fifth anniversary of TSaG coming up, I figured now would be a good time.

I want to say that this is NOT a ripoff of Newmanaccount's work. This is more of an homage if anything. In fact, the goal of my series is to be an antithesis of sorts to the events of TSaG. Notice how the word I chose is ENCOURAGE, rather than STALL. Since encouraging is the opposite of stalling, I'm sure you can figure out what the premise will be.

This first part has no Mature Content, but future chapters might. You've been warned. Oh, and I hope you enjoy this fan series.
