Jungle Boy 26:: She takes him somewhere (END)

The dragoness moved Jungle Boy around to the side of her cloth-like dress. She held him in one hand as she lifted up a flap on the side with the other.

"What are you doing?" Jungle Boy demanded.

"Keeping you safe for the time being. We can't have tiny little boys running around all alone in great big jungles."

"But the jungle is my home!" He protested

"It shouldn't be." The dragoness shook her head.

Jungle Boy was deposited into a pocket. After landing with a plop, he scrambled to get up onto his feet. The flap was sealed over his head, sealing him in near darkness. The next thing he knew, the dragoness started walking again. It was a struggle to stay standing as the world rumbled with every giant step.

"Let me out!" He demanded, pounding his fists against the cloth. He gnashed his teeth at the inside fabric, trying in vain to tear it open with his teeth.

"Settle down in there." The dragoness said. "I'll let you back out when we're out of the forest." Jungle Boy kept protesting until he tired himself out. He sat down on the cloth floor, panting and pouting. He slowly slipped into slumber, losing track of time...

A flash of light woke him from slumber. Jungle Boy looked up to see the flap being lifted up. A giant hand reached inside and gently scooped him up.

"We're here." The dragoness said, holding Jungle Boy in her outstretched palm.

The dragoness had taken Jungle Boy to the very edge of the jungle. There was a small village settlement in a large grassy plain. Smoke rose up from several chimneys. A river snaked its way around the village, leading off into the horizon.

"What is ths place?" Jungle Boy asked.

The dragoness lowered her hand down to the grass for him to step off. "This is where people your size live. It's much safer than that nasty jungle." The dragoness patted Jungle Boy on the head with a figner. "Now, run along into the village. I'm sure there are people to take care of you there."

The dragoness stood to her full height and turned around. Jungle Boy watched as she walked away. He turned back to the nearby village. He briefly considered the jungle again, thinking about going back in. But then he sighed.

"Maybe it IS safer there...."

And so, Jungle Boy abandoned his former home and went to live among humans. He would soon take on a new name, and forget about his former hardships and danger. But he never forgot about the dragoness who brought him there, even if he never learned her name...
